Contro il Malocchio are charm bags created with the intention of protecting against the evil eye. Using traditional elements found in breve bags in Italian-American folk magic, Contro il Malocchio are made using red fabric and black bands, composed of several varying apotropaic charms, prayers, items, and herbal allies. These bags are intended to protect against il malocchio (the evil eye), as well as jettature (intentional hexes and evil eye), invidia (envy), and fatture (curses/invoices).
No two bags are made alike. They are made in batches during ritual, including being blessed, prayed over, and consecrated by my personal methods - each bag may contain slightly different ingredients or charms and are chosen intuitively to be sent to the individual.
Breve are traditionally given and made on the spot for particular reasons, and while Contro il Malocchio is inspired by the breve bags I have made for others and the tradition of doing such, these charm bags are approached and created differently to preserve the original tradition and practice of crafting breve bags.
It is recommended, but not necessary, that you "feed" your charm bag once a month in the form of an offering of water (holy water, rue, or distilled) or smoke. Leave on your altar to charge when not in use.
